Sarahjean Schluechtermann and Jason Schulist were guests on Focus Fox Valley with Hayley Tenpas.
Listen to the interview here (starting around 3:50).
- The Fox Valley Data Exchange is a free, tri‑county data hub for Calumet, Outagamie, and Winnebago counties, organized around “vital conditions for wellbeing” like health, housing, education, and transportation.
- An Action and Advisory Team of about 16 cross‑sector members (including public health, like epidemiologist Sarah Jean from Winnebago County) helps decide which national, state, and local datasets are most valuable to add.
- Public health staff use the Exchange daily to save time and improve analysis, pulling ready-made maps and charts instead of manually downloading, cleaning, and visualizing raw data from multiple state or national systems.
- New K–12 school data (total enrollment, with attendance/absenteeism planned) has been added, allowing staff to better understand student engagement and lifelong learning patterns across all three counties.
- Local volunteers with strong data and technical skills convert large state datasets into usable formats, enabling the Exchange to host over 120 topics and hundreds of thousands of data points in a one-stop, user-friendly site at fvdex.org.
