- The Fox Valley Data Exchange is a nonprofit, launched in May 2023, created to be a one-stop, centralized hub for trusted community data, offering research, analysis, and trend interpretation.
- It evolved from the Fox Cities LIFE Study (started in 2001), which tracked “leading indicators for excellence” and informed major local initiatives but proved difficult and costly to keep updated. The new site reduces cost and has reach expanded beyond the Fox Cities to cover all of Calumet, Winnebago, and Outagamie counties.
- Guided by national partners (like the Rippel Foundation), the Data Exchange organizes information around seven Vital Conditions for Wellbeing (basic needs, humane housing, meaningful work and wealth, lifelong learning, reliable transportation, thriving natural world, belonging and civic muscle) to show how well the region is thriving, struggling, or suffering.
- Data and visualizations are free and publicly available, giving foundations, nonprofits, governments, businesses, schools, health systems, and residents access to updated, well-sourced local indicators for planning, grant writing, policy, and community action.
